Shuttle Service

We recommend the convenience and safety of our guided rides.

However,Maah Daah Hey Trail Shuttle Service we are always willing to help you design your own ride.

All costs are based on shuttles to or from Medora for 1-4 passengers and is a drop or pickup cost.

Each additional passenger costs $25 each.

Magpie Oilfield Road - $195

Grassy Butte - $185

Bennett Creek - $195

CCC Campground - $195

Elkhorn Camp - $195

"Buffalo Gap Shuttle"

A 14 mile ride via Buffalo Gap & MDHT or "Bailout" on Old Highway 10 for an 11 mile ride.  Great for the novice rider who still wants the full adventure of the Badlands.

$25 for the first 2 riders $5 each additional  rider

"Short Haul Shuttle"

Experience 28 miles of the Maah Daah Hey and Buffalo Gap Trail from Wannagon Creek to Medora. We'll shuttle you to Wannagon Creek Campground and you ride back to Medora via these trails (6.5 miles of MDHT sandwiched between 19 miles of the Buffalo Gap Trail), plus a bit of black top on the paved bike path riding into Medora. There are two excellent bailout points if the ride gets to be more than you're ready for.

This shuttle is priced right at $95 for 2 people and $10 for each additional rider. Our two shuttle vehicles seat five or ten passengers, so gather up your buddies and ride!

"Plumley Draw"

My New favorite Ride!

The newly completed Maah Daah Hey Trail southern corridor of 46 miles is as picturesque as it's Northern older brother!  This section of fresh "new" single track is on it's 3 season of riding.  We will shuttle you to the Plumley Draw Trail head and follow the signs north into Medora. It is an amazing 12 miles of single track to the Bully Pulpit Golf Course black top road, get on East River Road and head north back to Medora for 3 miles of pavement riding or take the original MDH Trail at Sulley Creek Campground and ride 5 more miles to the I-94 bridge, 1.5 miles to Medora on the bike path!  Don't worry we have a free map with the shuttle!  2 to 3 hours (you'll want to stop & take lots of photos!)

$40 for the first 2 riders $10 for additional riders

"The Works"

Our most requested service!

This 4 day ride starts at the Bennett Campground, not the CCC, due to the 1.5 mile of trail in the Wilderness section of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  But don't frett, you will still ride over 100 miles in 4 days!

Day 1:  We'll meet in Medora at the DC shop around 7:00 or 7:30 a.m. and load one of our enclosed trailers (5x7x4, or 6x8x6) with your gear, food, water, tents, coolers, lawn chairs, etc.  Your vehicle can be parked safely in downtown Medora while you're on the trail.  The shuttle to Bennett is about an hour.  Your 25 mile ride to Magpie is about 4 to 7 hours depending on trail and rider condition!  The locked trailer (you'll have a key) will be waiting just outside the camp perimeter.  You will be about 50 yards from the well pump (potable but not very tasty), and vault toilets.
Bring your own TP just in case!

Day 2:  Magpie to Elkhorn-22 miles.  Highlights are Devils Pass and the The Little Missouri River crossing (no bridge).  Please check the USGS website prior to the trip.  If the river is too high to ford safely (about 3.5 feet) we will need to arrange a shuttle to get you to Elkhorn safely.*  If it is below that level but too high for the truck & trailer to cross we will still need to detour around**.  Great part of the adventure! (Additional shuttle fees-see below)

Day 3:  Elkhorn to Wannagan about 22 miles.  Probably the hilliest but also most riders favorite for scenery, including a 1/2 mile section of petrified forest about 2 miles from Wannagan Camp.

Day 4:  Wannagan to Medora-28 or 22 miles (use the "Old Highway 10 Bailout" described in the Short Haul Shuttle, if you've had enough).  Once you are on the Buffalo Gap Trail, it's fast flowing prairie riding.  Still a few good climbs to test your endurance, and ending on a fun downhill into Medora.  We do recommend you ride the last 3 miles north and not go to Sulley Creek Campground as you will have a mile of sandy river bottom trail and another river crossing just before camp-plus 2 miles of blacktop road!  We'll also instruct and show you on the map prior to departure.  You will ride to the Shop where the trailer will be parked.

Public showers are available at the Medora Campground or the Red Trail Campground for a small fee.

Prices:  $750 for a base price up to two riders.  $85 for each additional rider.  Here's the math:

3 riders-$278 each

4 riders-$230 each

5 riders-$201 each

6 riders-$182 each

7 riders-$168 each

8 riders-$157.50 each

9 riders-$166*

* For larger groups (9 or more) a second vehicle will be needed to tow the trailer with the additional bikes gear & riders.  Add $150.

**If the river is too high to ford, or to drive across  the low water crossing, $150 will be charged for transportation to the next site for riders and/or gear.  We can pick riders up near mile marker 50 (after Devils Pass) and drop you off on the other side of the river.  Check the USGS site for the Little Missouri River water levels.

The 150 mile detour takes an additional 3 hours of time-drowning is not an option!

For the NON Campers we can shuttle you from your Hotel Room/Lodging to the trail and back each day.  Use the above fee formula and add $175 per day for 3 of the 4 days.

Reservations require a $200 deposit for 5 or less and $300 for 6 or more.  Deposits are non refundable but will be applied to an indefinite "Rain Check".

There are no refunds if you choose not to continue due to inclement weather or unforeseen difficulties during the ride.  There are however, 2 amazing pavement rides in the National Parks for an alternative or plan an extra "rain" day to your trip.

E-mail is the best correspondance especiially during the off season to make arrangements.

Shuttles are also available from the Bismarck Airport, Dickinson Airport and Willistion Amtrak/Airport.  Call for fees.
